The
Central Province Women's Chamber of Small Industries
& Commerce recently presented a colourful “Wedding
Fest” at the Hotel Suisse that attracted a large
and enthusiastic audience. The focus, as the name would
suggest, was on brides, bridegrooms and wedding ceremonies.
The highlight of the Fest was a bridal show capturing
Sri Lanka's cultural diversity in Kandyan, Indian, Muslim,
Hindu & Western fashions.
| Leading
beauticians Deepika Gunasekara, Hashini Gunasekara,
Berni Balasuriya and Premasiri Hewawasam conducted
beauty and make up demonstrations.
Lassana Flora, Telepix, Wanamal Flora, Swarna
Mahal, Ranrasa Video Lab (Gampola) and Subramaniams
were among the leading business houses from Kandy
that participated in the show.
The
Governor of the Central Province, Mr. Tikiri Kobbekaduwa
was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. |

Central Province Chief Minister Mr. Sarath Ekanayake,
Mayor of Kandy Mr. Kesara Senanayake and the Deputy
Mayor Mr. L.B. Aluvihare were the guests of honor.
The President of the Women's Chamber Mrs. Rosita Samarajeewa
headed the team that organized the show.
The German donor agency GTZ and the Federation of Chambers
of Commerce & Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) were
key sponsors of the event.
