Fruit Juice for the Tired Traveler
Sri Lanka is a veritable heaven for tropical fruits. But it is not that easy to get a clean and wholesome fruit juice drink for a reasonable price. Some of the five star hotels sell fruit juice at five star prices. But that is beyond the purse of the average middleclass person. CIC Agriculture appears to have come up with a neat solution with Juiceez, a fresh fruit juice outlet. For sure they have established only a prototype in Pelwehera about one kilometer beyond Dambulla on the Dambulla-Habarana Road.   Fresh Juice at Juiceez
The Pelwehera Juiceez gets its fresh fruit supply from the 650 acre CIC Agriculture farm in which it is located. The pleasant and cool surroundings are very inviting to the tired traveler who wants to stop to stretch one's legs and relax a little. Juceez have a very good choice of fruit juices priced in the Rs 75 to Rs 150 range per serving. The workers are courteous and obliging. While we were there for about 30 minutes quite a few stopped for a refreshing drink. May be the clean toilets were an added attraction. Whatever the reason may be, Juceez has a lot of potential. CIC Agriculture is considering the possibility of franchising Juceez. That will be a boon not only to the consumer but also to the fruit producer.
Nugawela Reelected to Lead SLICA
Duncan Nugawela and his team were reelected with a unanimous decision to lead KALYANA SLICA (Sri Lanka India Cultural Association) for the year 2005 at its annual general meeting held recently. The late T R R Rajan, founder of the Association 13 years ago and was the president for eleven years. SLICA is dedicated to the promotion of cultural relations between Sri Lanka and India.  

The members of the executive committee for 2005 are President Duncan Nugawela; Vice Presidents Tissa Weerasinghe, Gamini Rajapaksa, and BDR Rajan; Secretary C Nadaraja, Treasurer G S N Peiris; Past President Shelton Ranaraja; Auditor P Thyagarajan; Executive Committee Members Wijeya Wickramaratne, Dr. Bandu Edussuriya, R Manoharan, G A W G Galgamuwa, V Athimulan, R Wanasinghe, M Jegathesen, V K Dharmaraj, Jeeva Rajan, D Rathnayaka, M Rajendra, M R Saravanum, M Sathiymoorthi, S Thilekeshveran, and Shirley Jayawardena
