The Lions Club of Senkadagala celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its Charter recently at gala event at the Mahaweli Reach Hotel. The formal meeting where the chief guest was the Lions District Governor Amara Dissanayake was followed by fellowship and dinner. Lion President Saleem Deen and Charter Chairman Lion Kithsiri Wanigasekara organised the event.


Commercial Credit Assists Kandy Hospital
The Chairman of Commercial Credit Ltd Mrs. Vagdevi Fernando recently unveiled a plaque at the Kandy General Hospital to mark the rehabilitation and improvement of the Neuro Wards 73 and 74 that the company undertook in the hospital. Addressing those present Mrs. Fernando stressed that the hospital project was one way in which Commercial credit met its corporate social responsibility to the Kandy community. Mrs. Vagdevi Fernando recently unveiled a plaque at the Kandy General Hospital to mark the rehabilitation and improvement of the Neuro Wards
She made a commitment that her company would continue to help the two wards in the future as well. The Director of the Kandy Hospital Dr. M.G.P. Samarasinghe (left), Deputy Director Dr. W.G.A. Dissanayake, Consultant Neuro Surgeon Dr. Jayantha Liyanage, and CEO and Director Commercial Credit Mr. P.S.M. Fernando were also present on the occasion. Commercial Credit is celebrating its Silver Jubilee (25 years) this year.

Senkadagala Lions Help Train Rubber Tappers

The Lions Club of Senkadagala recently sponsored a training program for rubber tappers undertaken by the Advisory Services Department of the Rubber Research Institute.

The Divisional Rubber Extension Officer Lion I. Kiridena organised the program where thirty nine women from Hatharaliyadda participated. The Lions have undertaken this project to assist women from low income families and to help the rubber industry overcome the shortage of skilled rubber tappers. Kandy Lions Celebrate 42nd Anniversary The club dinner-dance

The Lions Club of Kandy recently celebrated its 42nd anniversary charter at the Hotel Earl's Regency. The club also organised a dinner-dance to raise funds for its community service projects.
